The Green Room

Your dream NFP group

Have you ever wanted to make like-minded friends but not known how? Have you joined your church's moms group only to be dismayed to find that they've all bought into our culture? Would you like a way to make couple friends who won't raise their eyebrows when you announce you're expecting your third/fourth/etc. child?

I for one am raising my hand. Some people are blessed to already have this kind of network when they first get married. Then there are others of us who don't, perhaps due to changes of address or changes of heart.

I am happy to have some great girlfriends out here. And yet none of them are quite as fanatical passionate as I am about topics such as NFP. So I contacted our diocesan NFP coordinator and volunteered myself. And it turned out she had the perfect opportunity - restarting a defunct NFP group! I'm so excited!

Our first meeting isn't for another month and a half, and it's basically going to be an open brainstorming session to see what people would like from this group. But in the meantime, I'm curious as to what you would want!

If you had the chance to join our Humanae Vitae Association (or if you already belong to something like this), what would you hope to get out of it? For example, would you want to hear speakers or get technical support ("someone please explain this chart to me!") or would you simply want fellowship? Or something else completely? Would you like family-friendly activities that even toddlers could enjoy or would you rather there be separate childcare provided? (Because obviously children will be welcome.) Would you like a variety of these things or would you rather have consistency so you know exactly what to expect each month? Would you like a separate small women's or men's group in addition to the coed meetings?

Also, if you have any suggestions as to how we could spread the word, I'm all ears. Or what food to serve. Or really anything else!

What does your dream NFP group look like?
